About

The association for support and promotion of culture Contineo 2020 is active as a cultural operator since 2012 and is primarily experienced in showcasing and promoting art, architecture and design.

Contineo 2020 organizes and implements the international cultural event In Situ Art Fair. The past editions of the Fair have supported and promoted art, architecture and design through multiple formats by hosting (inter)national individuals and collectives prominent in their field of work. Starting from the fifth edition of the event in 2018, the festival provided an extended, curated program by hosting multiple lectures, presentations and promotions of the most current and relevant content from the architectural culture scene in Europe. Among others, the most important ones are the lecture of the former executive director of the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau, Mr. Omar Akbar regarding the Bauhaus movements’ culture and legacy; the presentation of the Architectuul platform and its inclusive approach as an open database; the promotion of Blue Crow’s map of Skopje’s heritage of modernist architecture; Maroje Mrduljash’s lecture and the projection of the renowned TV series “Slumbering Concrete”, etc. The events were also accompanied by various exhibitions dedicated or closely related to architecture and the aspects of spatial culture and its social impact.

In 2021, inspired by the intense global debate on the role of women in society and consequently, in the profession, Contineo 2020 implemented the project entitled Macedonian Women Architects. The project aimed to explore, document, study and promote the role and works of the outstanding women of practice – planners, architects and designers and to contribute to a better understanding, greater visibility and appreciation of the architectural and cultural heritage they left for future generations. The project was financed by the Embassy of Switzerland in North Macedonia.

In 2022, Contineo2020, in partnership with ArchitectuulDocomomo Germany and Kaunas 2022 started the project Forgotten Masterpieces (FOMA), which has been funded by the EU Creative Europe programme. FOMA has established clear objectives, aiming to revolutionize the sharing of architectural knowledge through digital platforms. With an innovative approach at its core, the project seeks to leverage the potential of digital tools to facilitate the dissemination of architectural expertise. A pivotal outcome of FOMA will be the establishment of an open online archive, dedicated to documenting and preserving the remarkable architectural achievements of the 20th century. This digital repository will serve as a collaborative space for experts and architecture enthusiasts, fostering a spirit of free exchange and exploration within the realm of modern architecture. By showcasing these invaluable architectural gems, FOMA aims to highlight their enduring significance in today’s ever-evolving built environment.
